Brian Bauer

Brian has a B.S. In Chemical Engineering (85’) from Cornell and an MBA in Operations and Finance from the University of Chicago. Brian is a seasoned international energy industry executive with extensive experience in Oil, Natural Gas, Chemicals, and renewables in the United States, Asia, and Europe.  Brian ran several international businesses during a long career in the energy industry and has expertise in operations, strategy, business development, mergers and acquisitions, major project management, corporate governance, and organizational change.   In addition to his role here at the Smith School, he serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Cornell’s Center for Regional Economic Advancement, and as the COO of Ecolectro Inc, the green hydrogen startup leveraging Cornell technology.  Brian has helped build the entrepreneurial ecosystem in New York State by developing entrepreneurial programs and advising startups.    Brian also serves on the Boards of the Paleontological Research Institute and the Sciencenter where he focuses on climate and science education.  Brian lives in the woods in Ellis Hollow east of Cornell with his wife Lori and two Labrador Retrievers and has two adult children both of whom are Cornell Alumni.
